Brass & Burn Chimney Co.
A family business that's been climbing Chester County roofs for over thirty years. Same family, same trucks, same way of working.
Licensed and insured in Pennsylvania. Members of the Chimney Sweep Guild.
What that means in practice
- You get told the truth about what you need
- You get your living room back the way you left it
- You get the same crew, not a subcontractor
- You get someone who's still here next winter
Thirty years of the same county
Brass & Burn has been sweeping, lining and rebuilding chimneys across Chester County since long before most of the companies you'll find online existed. We're not a franchise, and we're not a call center routing your job to whoever's nearest.
Working one county for three decades changes how you do the job. We've swept the same chimneys for two generations of the same family. We know which streets in the borough have unlined flues, which developments went up with galvanized chase covers that are rusting through now, and which stone farmhouses hide water in the core of the stack.
It also means we're easy to find if something goes wrong. That's not a small thing in a trade where plenty of operators are a magnetic sign on the side of a van.
Four things we will not do
We won't add to the invoice
If the job changes once we're in there, we stop and tell you before we carry on. Nothing lands on the bill that you haven't already agreed to.
We won't sell you fear
Some companies in this trade run on scaring homeowners. If your chimney is fine, we'll tell you it's fine. If it isn't, you get a photo of the reason, not a story.
We won't leave a mess
Drop cloths down before anything else, and a HEPA vacuum running the whole time we're at the firebox. Thirty years of working in people's living rooms taught us that the cleanup is the job.
We won't hand you off
Cleaning, inspection, masonry, liners, waterproofing and dryer vents are all done by us. You're not left chasing a second contractor to finish what we found.
What we carry, and why it matters
- Fully licensed to work in Pennsylvania
- Fully insured, with certificates available on request
- Members of the Chimney Sweep Guild
- Inspections carried out to the NFPA 211 standard
- Liners installed to UL 1777, with warranty paperwork available on request
Ask any chimney company for proof of insurance before they get on your roof. If they hesitate, that's your answer. Chimney work involves ladders, roofs and fire, and an uninsured contractor injured on your property becomes your problem.
We're happy to send certificates over before we come out. Nobody has ever offended us by asking.
Chester County, top to bottom
We're based in Chester County and we cover it properly, from the boroughs through the townships and out into the rural south of the county. Pick your town below for local detail, or just call and we'll tell you right away whether you're on our route.
About working with us
How soon can you come out?
It depends on the season. Late summer and fall are our busiest stretch and the calendar fills fast, so booking in August or September gets you the date you actually want. Outside that window we can usually be with you quickly.
Do you charge for estimates?
Our chimney estimate service is $149.99, and it includes a thorough visual inspection by one of our trained technicians. If repairs are needed and you decide to move forward, the full $149.99 is credited toward the completed repair, so you aren't paying it twice.
Are you insured?
Yes, fully licensed and insured in Pennsylvania. We'll send certificates over before we come out if you'd like to see them.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. Commercial chimney cleaning is part of what we do, alongside multi-unit buildings and properties managed on behalf of owners.
What does a cleaning cost?
Our pricing is published rather than quoted on the doorstep. You can see it on our homepage, or call and we'll tell you over the phone.
