Thirty years of the same county
Brass & Burn has been sweeping, lining and rebuilding chimneys across Chester County since long before most of the companies you will find online existed. We are not a franchise and we are not a call centre routing your job to whoever is nearest.
Working one county for three decades changes how you do the job. We have swept the same chimneys for two generations of the same family. We know which streets in the borough have unlined flues, which developments went up with galvanised chase covers that are now rusting through, and which stone farmhouses hide water in the core of the stack.
It also means we are easy to find if something goes wrong. That is not a small thing in a trade where plenty of operators are a magnetic sign on the side of a van.
Four things we will not do
We will not quote after the fact
You hear the number before we start, not when the invoice lands. If the job changes once we are in there, we stop and tell you before carrying on.
We will not sell you fear
Some companies in this trade run on scaring homeowners. If your chimney is fine, we will tell you it is fine. If it is not, you get a photograph of the reason, not a story.
We will not leave a mess
Drop cloths down before anything else and a HEPA vacuum running the whole time we are at the firebox. Thirty years of working in people's living rooms taught us that the cleanup is the job.
We will not hand you off
Cleaning, inspection, masonry, liners, waterproofing and dryer vents are all done by us. You are not left chasing a second contractor to finish what we found.

Ask any chimney company for proof of insurance before they get on your roof. If they hesitate, that is your answer. Chimney work involves ladders, roofs and fire, and an uninsured contractor injured on your property becomes your problem.
We are happy to send certificates over before we come out. Nobody has ever offended us by asking.

How soon can you come out?
It depends on the season. Late summer and autumn are our busiest stretch and the calendar fills fast, so booking in August or September gets you the date you actually want. Outside that window we can usually be with you quickly.
Do you charge for estimates?
No. Estimates are free and there is no obligation attached to them. You are welcome to take our written findings and have the work done by someone else.
Are you insured?
Yes, fully licensed and insured in Pennsylvania. We will send certificates over before we come out if you would like to see them.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. Commercial chimney cleaning is part of what we do, alongside multi-unit buildings and properties managed on behalf of owners.
What does a cleaning cost?
